Isaiah 53:1-6

• Berlutut di PalunganMu [KJ.115]

  1. Berlutut di palunganMu, ya Yesus, Sumber Hidup, kubawa persembahanku yang memang hak milikMu: hatiku, roh dan jiwaku, seluruh isi hidupku, padaMu berkenanlah!
  2. Dahulu dari lahirku, Kau Yesus, sudah lahir; dan 'ku terpilih olehMu, meski belum 'ku jadi; Kau sudah mengasihiku dan Kaurelakan diriMu Supaya kumiliki.	Ef 1:4 1 Yoh 4:10

  6. Palungan ini bagiMu terlampau sederhana dan rumput alas tidurMu tak pantas bagi Raja. Yang layak bagi Tuhanku: istana, sutra, beledu, Ayunan mas kencana.

  7. Raja abadi, apa kulakukan, agar kasihMu dapat kumasyhurkan? Apa yang layak aku persembahkan jadi imbalan?
  8. Tiada yang sanggup untuk mengimbangi rahmat kasihMu suci dan ilahi. Baik berusaha maupun beribadah, takkan setara!
  9. Namun yang tinggal berkenan padaMu hanyalah bila kusalibkan nafsu; hati yang hancur yang hendak bertobat tidak Kautolak.	Mzm 51:19

  How few receive with cordial faith The tidings which we bring? How few have seen the arm revealed Of Heav’n’s eternal King? The Savior comes! no outward pomp Bespeaks His presence nigh; No earthly beauty shines in Him To draw the carnal eye. Fair as a beauteous tender flower Amidst the desert grows, So slighted by a rebel race The heav’nly Savior rose. Rejected and despised of men, Behold a Man of woe! Grief was His close companion still Through all His life below. Yet all the griefs He felt were ours, Ours were the woes He bore: Pangs, not His own, His spotless soul With bitter anguish tore. What though none on earth assist Him, God requires not help from man; What though all the world resist Him, God will realize His plan.   Ah, holy Jesus, how hast Thou offended, That man to judge Thee hath in hate pretended? By foes derided, by Thine own rejected, O most afflicted. Who was the guilty? Who brought this upon Thee? Alas, my treason, Jesus, hath undone Thee. ’Twas I, Lord, Jesus, I it was denied Thee! I crucified Thee. Lo, the Good Shepherd for the sheep is offered; The slave hath sinned, and the Son hath suffered; For man’s atonement, while he nothing heedeth, God intercedeth.   My crucified Savior, despised and contemned, Thou innocent victim for sinners condemned, Thy garments are blood-stained, Thy spirit doth groan, In agony prostrate, Thou suff’rest alone. Thou weepest and moanest in conflict and prayer, And writhest in agony, pain and despair; In thirty years’ anguish our path Thou hast trod, And diest at last to redeem us to God. Our Savior thus finished God’s plan with our race, And laid the foundation for pardon and grace. And then rose triumphant, the conquering Lord, Appeased the Creator and mankind restored. Restored to the bliss that was lost in the fall, Yea, greater, for Jesus prepared for us all Eternal salvation and mansions above; Come, poor, burdened sinners, rejoice in His love. Yea, come, trembling sinner, come just as thou art, Thy cares and thy sorrows to Jesus impart; In Him seek salvation from death and the grave, For Jesus is willing and mighty to save.

• [Isa 53:3] O Dearest Jesus

  O dearest Jesus, what law hast Thou broken That such sharp sentence should on Thee be spoken? Of what great crime hast Thou to make confession— What dark transgression? They crown Thy head with thorns, they smite, they scourge Thee; With cruel mockings to the cross they urge Thee; They give Thee gall to drink, they still decry Thee; They crucify Thee. Whence come these sorrows, whence this mortal anguish? It is my sins for which Thou, Lord, must languish; Yea, all the wrath, the woe, Thou dost inherit, This I do merit. What punishment so strange is suffered yonder! The Shepherd dies for sheep that loved to wander; The Master pays the debt His servants owe Him, Who would not know Him. The sinless Son of God must die in sadness; The sinful child of man may live in gladness; Man forfeited his life and is acquitted— God is committed. There was no spot in me by sin untainted; Sick with sin’s poison, all my heart had fainted; My heavy guilt to hell had well-nigh brought me, Such woe it wrought me. O wondrous love, whose depth no heart hath sounded, That brought Thee here, by foes and thieves surrounded! All worldly pleasures, heedless, I was trying While Thou wert dying. O mighty King, no time can dim Thy glory! How shall I spread abroad Thy wondrous story? How shall I find some worthy gifts to proffer? What dare I offer? For vainly doth our human wisdom ponder— Thy woes, Thy mercy, still transcend our wonder. Oh, how should I do aught that could delight Thee! Can I requite Thee? Yet unrequited, Lord, I would not leave Thee; I will renounce whate’er doth vex or grieve Thee And quench with thoughts of Thee and prayers most lowly All fires unholy. But since my strength will nevermore suffice me To crucify desires that still entice me, To all good deeds, oh, let Thy Spirit win me And reign within me! I’ll think upon Thy mercy without ceasing, That earth’s vain joys to me no more be pleasing; To do Thy will shall be my sole endeavor Henceforth forever. Whate’er of earthly good this life may grant me, I’ll risk for Thee; no shame, no cross, shall daunt me; I shall not fear what man can do to harm me Nor death alarm me. But worthless is my sacrifice, I own it; Yet, Lord, for love’s sake Thou wilt not disown it; Thou wilt accept my gift in Thy great meekness Nor shame my weakness. And when, dear Lord, before Thy throne in Heaven To me the crown of joy at last is given, Where sweetest hymns Thy saints forever raise Thee, I, too, shall praise Thee.

  What grace, O Lord, and beauty shone Around Thy steps below! What patient love was seen in all Thy life and death of woe. For, ever on Thy burdened heart A weight of sorrow hung; Yet no ungentle, murmuring word Escaped Thy silent tongue. Thy foes might hate, despise, revile, Thy friends unfaithful prove; Unwearied in forgiveness still, Thy heart could only love. O give us hearts to love like Thee!   Stricken, smitten, and afflicted, See Him dying on the tree! ’Tis the Christ by man rejected; Yes, my soul, ’tis He, ’tis He! ’Tis the long expected prophet, David’s Son, yet David’s Lord; Proofs I see sufficient of it: ’Tis a true and faithful Word. Tell me, ye who hear Him groaning, Was there ever grief like His? Friends through fear His cause disowning, Foes insulting his distress: Many hands were raised to wound Him, None would interpose to save; But the deepest stroke that pierced Him Was the stroke that Justice gave. Ye who think of sin but lightly, Nor suppose the evil great, Here may view its nature rightly, Here its guilt may estimate. Mark the Sacrifice appointed! See Who bears the awful load! ’Tis the Word, the Lord’s Anointed, Son of Man, and Son of God. Here we have a firm foundation, Here the refuge of the lost. Christ the Rock of our salvation, Christ the Name of which we boast. Lamb of God for sinners wounded! Sacrifice to cancel guilt! None shall ever be confounded Who on Him their hope have built.

  Oh, when shall sickness and disease Their persecuting warfare cease; And weakness die, and grief and pain, And death itself at last be slain? Doubt not that better day is near, The suffering sons of earth to hear; Disease and pain are born of sin. Their remedy is found within. Let Christ, descending from above, Become incarnate in Thy love. The inward ills and wrong subdue, And make Thy fallen nature new.   I lay my sins on Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God; He bears them all, and frees us from the accursèd load; I bring my guilt to Jesus, to wash my crimson stains White in His blood most precious, till not a stain remains.   I was a wandering sheep, I did not love the fold; I did not love my Shepherd’s voice, I would not be controlled. I was a wayward child, I did not love my home; I did not love my Father’s voice, I loved afar to roam. The Shepherd sought His sheep, The Father sought His child; They followed me o’er vale and hill, O’er deserts waste and wild; They found me nigh to death, Famished and faint and lone; They bound me with the bands of love, They saved the wand’ring one. They spoke in tender love, They raised my drooping head, They gently closed my bleeding wounds, My fainting soul they fed; They washed my filth away, They made me clean and fair; They brought me to my home in peace, The long sought wanderer.   Like sheep we went astray, And broke the fold of God, Each wandering in a different way, But all the downward road. How dreadful was the hour When God our wanderings laid And did at once His vengeance pour, Upon the Shepherd’s head! How glorious was the grace When Christ sustained the stroke! His life and blood the Shepherd pays A ransom for the flock. His honor and His breath Were taken both away, Joined with the wicked in His death, And made as vile as they. But God shall raise His head O’er all the sons of men, And make Him see a numerous seed, To recompense His pain. “I’ll give Him,” saith the Lord, “A portion with the strong; He shall possess a large reward; And hold His honors long.”
